Clapp's Favourite is a useful early-season pear, ripening in mid-August in southern England. Its attractive flushed skin makes it the perfect dessert for a summer lunch-party.

Like most early season pears it does not keep, so it is best to pick the pears as soon as they start to show colour, and bring them indoors to ripen.
