Can container-grown trees be planted at any time of year?

Question:

Hello, Can your container-grown Charles Ross trees be planted at any time of year? If not when is best please?

Published: 30-Dec-2017

Answer:

Our container-grown trees can be planted at any time of the year - but preferably in the period September to the end of April.

There is nothing to be gained by planting a fruit tree over the summer, as it will not establish easily, and will be at risk of drying out if it is not carefully watered.

Also, fruit trees do most of their growing in the period May - September and planting during this period will potentially cause a check to growth.

In short it's far better to wait until autumn!
