Apricot tree winter protection

Question

Asked by: Jill  from Rotherham, 20-Nov-2019

I have an apricot tree in a pot. It is losing its leaves. Should I cover it up with some fleece to keep it warm through winter? It is facing the sun in the morning only.

Answer

Apricot trees need to get properly cold at this time of year, so you do not need to "keep it warm", quite the opposite.

However it is a good idea to insulate the pot (not the tree), and perhaps raise it off the ground and insulate underneath.
