Sour cherry trees for the kitchen garden

Sour cherries, also called acid cherries, are primarily grown for use in the kitchen. The cherries can be eaten fresh, but they have a sharper acidic flavour which is ideal for cooking purposes.

Sour cherry trees are usually self-fertile. They are also easy to grow and undemanding. Unlike sweet cherries, they will tolerate some shade, and are a good choice if your garden is north-facing.
