Professor Sprenger is a well-proportioned white-blossomed crab-apple - the intensity and profusion of the white flowers rivals some flowering cherries.

In autumn the leaves turn yellow, but the main attraction is the mass of orange fruitlets.

History

Professor Sprenger is related to the well-known Golden Hornet, and shares that variety's abundant blossom and fruitlets.

It is named after Professor Albrecht Marinus Sprenger of the Institute of Horticulture at the University of Wageningen, in Holland.
