Red Filbert is a fruiting hazel tree with attractive ornamental qualities. The wine-red catkins contrast with the large purple leaves.

The hazels have dark purple shells and a good flavour, and ripen in late September.

How to grow

Red Filbert is not self-fertile, and needs another compatible hazel to be planted nearby - the best pollination partner is Gunslebert.
