All about Asano flowering cherry trees

Prunus Asano is a compact Japanese flowering cherry with an upright habit.

It is notable for the intense pink blossom, featuring up to 100 petals per flower - known as "chrysanthemum-flowered".

The young leaves emerge with a coppery green colour, becoming darker green over the summer, and then taking on autumnal colours.

Prunus Asano was introduced from Japan in the 1920s by the famous English flowering cherry enthusiast Collingwood Ingram.
