Prunus Jacqueline is a new flowering cherry, featuring stunning pink blossom and superb autumn colours.

The blossom arrives relatively early in April. The abundant single flowers are large, and an intense bright pink colour. They appear ahead of the leaves, clothing the naked branches in pink, like candy floss.

Jacqueline is also one of the more reliable flowering cherries for autumn colour. The leaves take on bright orange-red hues, which can be quite dramatic in a good autumn.

How to grow

Prunus Jacqueline benefits from formative pruning in the first couple of years to ensure a pleasing mature shape.

History

Prunus Jacqueline was discovered in Belgium and is thought to be a hybrid of Prunus sargentii - which is also known for its strong autumn colours.
