Powder Puff, also known as Kobuku-zakura, is an early-flowering white blossom tree, which has particularly dense double flowers. The petals a very pure white colour.

The Japanese word "kobuku" suggests someone who has many children, which reflects the unusual characteristic of this variety to produce several cherries per individual flower. These fruits are not palatable though.

Kobuku-zakura has some similarity with Autumnalis White, notably its very early spring flowering and occasional tendency to flower during warm spells in late autumn. The flowers are also somewhat similar, although those of Kobuku-zakura have far more petals.
