More about ornamental pears
Flowering pear trees are grown primarily for their ornamental features. They usually flower quite early in the spring when not much else is around. In autumn most have fruitlets which may attract wildlife, and they often have interesting foliage colours.
Flowering pear trees are also usually easy to grow, disease-resistant, and tolerant of most soil conditions.
