Silver Sails is a small ornamental pear tree. The main attraction is the silvery-green foliage, which emerges in early spring and continues until late autumn. The individual leaves have some resemblance to yacht sails.

Silver Sails features large single white flowers in spring, with crimson centres.

Small (approx. 2cm) ornamental fruitlets appear in the autumn. These can be cooked.

The tree grows with a compact upright habit.

Like most ornamental pear trees Silver Sails is relatively undemanding to grow, and will tolerate occasional drought and atmospheric pollution. It does best in full sun but will tolerate some shade.
